The Perfect Sunglasses

As a ski coach, I need sunglasses that are lightweight, versatile, and high-performance—and the Glade Optics Townie XL delivers. The Reveal Photochromatic lens adapts seamlessly to changing light, making it perfect for long days on the mountain. They’re so light and comfortable I forget I’m wearing them, whether I’m coaching, skiing, or heading to après.

Better than Oakley

I’ve worn out two pairs of Oakleys, but I’m so glad I discovered Glade. I have a big noggin, but the Townie XL fits me perfectly.
They sre comfortable enough to forget, I am wearing them, and the styling and proportion of the lens is just right. They are crystal clear, and I actually prefer them both in fit, style, and visual clarity to their Oakley counterparts.

I’m in coastal Southern California, so these are essential to keep my eyes rested and of my vision clear all day long.

OK, but overpriced

I've been wearing these almost daily for 6+ months at this point. First of all, I do love the style of these glasses.

That being said, there are some things to work on, and I am only seeing 5 star reviews here, which doesn't seem quite right to me. Adding my 2 cents....

These are marketed as having the same or better quality as the "other brand" of ski goggles/glasses, but at a much better price. I've also worn the "other brand's" glasses almost daily for several years, in addition to many other premium and value branded glasses. I'm someone who always has to have a pair of shades on. Outside of day to day use, I am primarily using them while fishing.

To keep it simple, you are getting what you pay for with these glasses. I do not think the quality punches above their price point. To provide a few examples:

The lenses on my glasses seem to scratch easily, and they fit loosely in the frame. There is movement similar to what happens when you buy a set of aftermarket lenses to put into an OEM frame.

The screws attaching the arms of my glasses both fell out. The glasses don't seem to fit as tightly after this happened.

All of the rubber pads on my frame have detached and/or deformed.

All that said, I'd buy another pair of these at sale pricing maybe. They are solid glasses, but not (yet) in the same league as the other pairs I have from the "other guys".

Great Sunglasses!

These sunglasses are top quality. They feel durable. I like how the lenses adjust to surroundings.
